"Temperatures are expected to fall to near or slightly below the freezing mark overnight into Saturday morning, particularly for areas north of Highway 401," the advisory reads.
"For areas closer to Lake Ontario, temperatures will be a few degrees warmer."
Environment Canada said damage to trees, plants and crops is possible and advised taking preventative measures to protect sensitive vegetation.
"It’s perfectly normal to have frost this time of the year," said Rob Kuhn, a severe weather meteorologist with Environment Canada. "This may signal the actual official end of our summer growing season."
He advised those with sensitive outdoor plants, trees and crops to cover them and bring them inside if possible.
The forecast for Friday evening includes cloudy skies and a 40 per cent chance of showers.
A low of 0 C and the risk of frost are expected, except near Lake Ontario, where the low will be 3 C.
Friday had a high of 19 C, but northwesterly winds brought a shift by the afternoon.
Saturday will be chilly with a high of 11 C, according to Environment Canada.
"Saturday will be a chilly one as the high will struggle to climb out of the single digits," said CP24 meteorologist Bill Coulter.
Coulter said the high will top at 9 C, adding that it will be bright but gusty with winds of up to 45 km/h.
Saturday night again brings a risk of frost, with a low of 2 C expected under clear skies.
The clouds will partly lift before Saturday morning with winds gusting up to 50 km/h.
The potentially frosty conditions should subside by Sunday, with a high of 16 C and sunny skies forecast.
Sunday night is expected to be clear with a low of 6 C.
"Next week looks lovely, I think we’re going to be back over 20 degrees again in a few days," said Kuhn.
Monday’s forecast calls for a high of 18 C with sunny skies during the day and a low of 6 C with clear skies at night.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday should all see a mix of sun and clouds, with daytime highs of 16 C, 15 C and 16 C, respectively.
Nights are expected to be colder, with a low of 5 C with cloudy periods on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton are among the cities under the frost advisory.
